Updated October 2026. Renovation is a mid-table industry on Google in Singapore with a sharp split inside it. Across 157 deduplicated renovation and interior design keywords, the volume-weighted top-of-page bid is S$14.19, ranking #7 of 22 industries in the Singapore Google Ads CPC Index by Marketing Agency Singapore. Home jobs are moderately priced. Commercial jobs are not: Office & commercial averages S$40.88.
The data comes straight from the Google Ads API (Keyword Planner, Singapore, English) and is refreshed every month. Below: what each type of job costs to advertise, the most expensive searches, when demand peaks, and the HDB and consumer-protection rules that decide what a renovation ad may claim.

Renovation CPC by job type

| Bathroom & toilet | 10 | 1,000 | S$1.80–S$7.29 | toilet renovation singapore |
What drives the order:
- Contract size. An office fit-out is worth many times a kitchen re-do, so commercial contractors can pay far more per lead. “office renovation singapore” sits at S$55.59, against S$8.73 for “kitchen renovation singapore”.
- Interior design carries the volume. “interior design singapore” gets 4,400 searches a month at S$14.56. Most of the vertical’s search demand comes from homeowners at the inspiration stage, long before they request quotes.
- Trade searches are cheap and specific. Carpentry, flooring and toilet jobs (“vinyl flooring singapore” at S$9.28) are smaller tickets with many small bidders.

Renovation search demand by month
Total monthly searches for the tracked renovation & interior design keywords. Peak: March 2026 (38,540); low: February 2026 (24,520).
Renovation demand tends to dip around Chinese New Year and pick up afterwards, and new-flat key collections in particular estates can add local bursts. Contractors running ads can line budgets up with key-collection dates in the estates they serve. SEO content on costs, timelines and permits needs to be published before those waves arrive.
What customers search vs what your ads can say
Homeowners search for the “best” and “top” firms and the cheapest quote:

| Searcher modifier | Keywords | Searches / mo | Avg high bid | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| “best” | 9 | 1,340 | S$13.17 | best interior design singapore, best interior designer singapore, best renovation contractor singapore |
| “top” | 6 | 430 | S$13.25 | top 10 interior design company in singapore, top interior designers singapore, top interior design firms singapore |
| “cheapest / lowest price” | 1 | 140 | S$10.96 | cheapest vinyl flooring singapore |
Several rules decide what a renovation ad can say in Singapore:
- Only DRC-listed contractors may advertise HDB renovation. Rule 6(1)(b) of the Housing and Development (Renovation Control) Rules bars anyone who isn’t a registered renovation contractor from advertising or holding themselves out as able to renovate HDB flats, with a fine of up to S$5,000. HDB’s guidance says this includes websites and social media. So “HDB renovation” ads and landing pages are only for firms on HDB’s Directory of Renovation Contractors.
- Avoid “HDB-approved”. HDB states that it “does not endorse nor guarantee the quality of their works”, so even listed firms should say “DRC-listed” or “HDB-registered renovation contractor”, not “approved”. Claiming an approval or affiliation you don’t have is an unfair practice under the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act, and Google treats false government affiliation as misrepresentation.
- Price claims must be genuine. The CCS guide for the renovation industry tells contractors not to use “flat fees”, “direct factory price” or sales and promotions that aren’t genuine, and to state mandatory charges in the quotation at the outset. Its own worked example is a S$28,500 quote billed at S$33,500 after an undisclosed electrical charge.
- “Free” items inside a package aren’t free. CCS’s price transparency guidelines say a product that is part of the package price must not be called free, and “from” prices must correspond to something you actually sell.
- CaseTrust only if accredited. Accredited firms may display the CaseTrust logo in marketing; anyone else displaying it is claiming an affiliation they don’t have.
This is a practitioner summary, not legal advice.
Ads vs SEO for a renovation firm
If one firm ranked first organically for every keyword here, the clicks would be worth roughly S$70,917 a month in equivalent ad spend. A typical split:
- Google Ads for ready-to-hire searches. “Renovation contractor”, job-specific and commercial terms, sent to pages that show scope, inclusions, exclusions and the existence of mandatory extras next to any package price.
- SEO for the inspiration stage. Interior design ideas, cost guides by flat type and before-you-renovate checklists capture the large “interior design” audience months before they shortlist firms. Use your own project photos and label 3D renders as renders.

Methodology
How this index is built. Every month we pull Google Ads Keyword Planner data through the Google Ads API for Singapore (English, Google Search network). We seed each industry with its core service terms, then:
- Collapse close variants. Keyword Planner often reports close variants (singular and plural, reordered words) with identical numbers. We count them once.
- Drop navigational searches. Brand and company names are excluded, along with anything under 30 searches a month.
- Report the top-of-page bid range (low and high) in SGD. Our headline “CPC” is the volume-weighted high end: what it typically takes to show above the organic results.
- Probe restricted terms by exact match to record where Google withholds data or gives no bid estimate.
Top-of-page bids are Google’s forecasts, not any one advertiser’s actual cost per click. Quality Score, ad schedule, device and competition on the day move real CPCs above or below this range. Use the index to compare services and industries, not to set a single bid.

Can I advertise a renovation package as “all-in”?
Only if it genuinely is. CCS guidance asks contractors to state mandatory charges at the outset, or disclose that they exist with estimates if they can’t be calculated in advance. A package that routinely incurs add-ons shouldn’t be advertised as all-in.
