Free keyword CTR & traffic estimator

Search volume is only half the story — what you actually earn is volume × click-through rate at your ranking position. This free tool — built by a Singapore SEO agency — turns a keyword’s monthly volume and your target position into an estimated monthly click figure, using blended industry CTR averages. Crucially, it also models what happens when an AI Overview appears — the single biggest change to organic CTR in years. It runs entirely in your browser.

Why position matters more than most people realise

Click-through rate drops off a cliff after the first few results. Position 1 earns roughly 28% of clicks; by position 3 that’s already down to about 10%, and anything on page 2 collects barely 1%. That’s why the same keyword can be worth 700 clicks a month at #1 and fewer than 30 at #10 — and why moving from position 5 to position 2 is often more valuable than chasing a brand-new keyword. Use the table above to see the click difference at each position for your keyword.

How AI Overviews change the maths

When Google shows an AI Overview (its generative answer box) above the organic results, it pushes the traditional blue links further down the page and answers many queries directly — so fewer people click through at all. Studies through 2025 suggest organic CTR can fall by roughly a third or more on queries where an AI Overview appears, hitting informational and question-style searches hardest. Tick the AI Overview box to apply that reduction. The strategic response isn’t to give up on those keywords — it’s to earn the citation inside the AI Overview itself, which is exactly what answer-engine optimisation (AEO) targets.

How to use these estimates

Treat the output as a planning estimate, not a guarantee — real CTR varies with intent, brand presence, rich results, ads and SERP layout. Use it to prioritise: compare the realistic click potential of climbing an existing page-2 keyword versus targeting a new one, or to build a rough traffic forecast for an SEO project. Pair it with our SERP snippet preview to write a title and description that beat the average CTR for your position — a compelling snippet can lift real clicks well above the curve.

Frequently asked questions

Where do these CTR percentages come from?

They’re blended desktop-and-mobile averages drawn from large-scale click studies of Google search results. Actual CTR for any single keyword depends on intent, brand, ads and SERP features, so use these as directional benchmarks rather than exact figures.

How much do AI Overviews reduce clicks?

Estimates vary by query type, but a reduction of around a third in organic CTR is a reasonable planning assumption for queries where an AI Overview appears — more for purely informational searches, less for commercial ones. This tool applies roughly a 38% reduction when the box is ticked.

Is position 1 always worth it?

Usually, but not always — if position 1 sits below an AI Overview, a big ad block or a shopping carousel, its real CTR can be far lower than the classic 28%. That’s why modern SEO looks at the whole SERP layout, not just the organic rank number.

Does this work for Singapore keywords?

Yes — CTR curves are broadly consistent across markets. Just use local search volume (set your Keyword Planner or Ahrefs to Singapore) and the click estimates will reflect your local audience.
