Updated October 2026. Mental health is a large, fast-growing search market in Singapore, and it’s surprisingly cheap to advertise in. Google also hides its two most important terms. Across 29 deduplicated keywords, the volume-weighted top-of-page bid is S$5.38, ranking mental health #13 of the 15 verticals in our Singapore Medical CPC Index. Neither “psychiatrist singapore” nor “psychologist singapore” returned any data from Keyword Planner this month.
The data comes straight from the Google Ads API (Keyword Planner, Singapore, English) and is refreshed every month. Below: what each service costs to advertise, the most expensive searches, how demand moves through the year, and what the gaps in Google’s data mean for practices.
*Searches × 25% assumed #1 organic click-through × midpoint of Google’s top-of-page bid range. Data: Google Ads Keyword Planner, Singapore, English, October 2026.

| Depression & anxiety | 2 | 200 | S$1.54–S$4.32 | depression therapy singapore |
| Couples & family therapy | 3 | 3,040 | S$1.21–S$3.49 | couple counselling singapore |
Why mental health clicks cost what they do:
- A fragmented market of small practices. Most therapy in Singapore is delivered by independent counsellors, psychologists and small group practices, with modest marketing budgets. There are no large private chains forcing bids up the way private specialist groups do in surgery.
- The value is in the relationship, not the first click. A therapy client may attend for months, but session fees are far below a surgical case. Bids for “therapist singapore” (S$7.24, 3,600 searches) reflect that slower, smaller payback.
- Online counselling is contested by platforms. “online counselling singapore” (S$10.14) attracts both local practices and app-based platforms competing on convenience. Their bids lift it above the rest of the vertical.
The most expensive mental health keywords in Singapore
| Keyword | Searches / mo | Low bid | High bid | Competition |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| online counselling singapore | 110 | S$1.90 | S$10.14 | Medium |
| educational psychologist singapore | 90 | S$2.00 | S$7.36 | High |
| therapist singapore | 3,600 | S$2.12 | S$7.24 | High |
| private therapist singapore | 50 | S$2.26 | S$7.11 | High |
| adhd assessment singapore | 170 | S$2.23 | S$6.25 | Medium |
| depression counselling singapore | 90 | S$1.82 | S$5.97 | Medium |
| counselling psychologist singapore | 50 | S$1.95 | S$5.95 | Medium |
| best therapist in singapore | 50 | S$2.12 | S$5.92 | High |
| therapist singapore reddit | 90 | S$1.74 | S$5.40 | Medium |
| autism assessment singapore | 50 | S$1.52 | S$5.36 | High |
| psychotherapist singapore | 480 | S$1.90 | S$5.32 | Medium |
| singapore counsellor | 390 | S$1.61 | S$5.10 | High |
| marriage therapist singapore | 70 | S$1.69 | S$5.07 | High |
| cognitive behavioral therapy singapore | 320 | S$1.58 | S$4.97 | Medium |
| trauma therapy singapore | 140 | S$1.82 | S$4.84 | Medium |
The expensive searches name a specific need: educational psychologists, ADHD and autism assessment, depression counselling, private therapy. Families looking for a child’s assessment have a clear, time-sensitive goal and are often comparing waiting times between public and private providers. Assessment services attract bids for that reason. Couples counselling has large volume (“couple counselling singapore”, 2,900 searches) but low bids, so it’s an easy place to win clicks cheaply.

Mental health search demand by month
Total monthly searches for the tracked mental health keywords. Peak: March 2026 (12,260); low: December 2025 (8,870).
Mental health searches move with the calendar. They tend to rise after the new year and around school and exam stress periods, and dip during festive weeks. For practices, the bigger trend is structural: demand for therapy, assessment and online counselling has grown steadily, while the supply of practitioners hasn’t caught up.
Mental health searches Google won’t show data for
We check the core mental health terms by exact match every month:

| Search term | Keyword Planner, October 2026 |
|---|---|
| psychiatrist singapore | No data returned |
| psychologist singapore | No data returned |
| therapist singapore | 3,600 searches, S$2.12–S$7.24 |
| adhd assessment singapore | 170 searches, S$2.23–S$6.25 |
Both “psychiatrist singapore” and “psychologist singapore” came back empty in October 2026, while “therapist singapore” and “adhd assessment singapore” returned full data. Google treats mental health as a sensitive category and restricts how ads can be targeted around it. Withheld planning data fits that pattern, though Google doesn’t explain its reasons. In practice, a psychiatry clinic or psychology practice can’t forecast its core demand from Keyword Planner at all. The patients searching those terms still find someone, mostly through organic results and the map pack.
What patients search vs what your ads can say
The rules depend on who is advertising. Psychiatrists practising in a medical clinic or hospital are covered by the Healthcare Services Act. Their advertising falls under the HCS (Advertisement) Regulations 2021 and the Singapore Medical Council’s ethical code. Psychologists and counsellors in independent practice are generally not HCSA licensees, so those regulations don’t apply to them in the same way. Their advertising is shaped instead by other laws, such as the Medicines (Advertisement and Sale) Act, and by their professional bodies’ codes. Get advice on your specific set-up.
| Searcher modifier | Keywords | Searches / mo | Avg high bid | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| “best” | 3 | 150 | S$5.76 | best marriage counselling singapore, best therapist in singapore, best therapist singapore |
For HCSA licensees, the familiar restrictions apply:
- Laudatory terms such as “best”, “top [specialty] doctor”, “leading” and “highly experienced” are prohibited regardless of accuracy.
- Testimonials can’t be reproduced in advertising. In mental health they also raise confidentiality concerns, even when a client volunteers one.
- Time promises such as “feel better in 3 sessions” create unjustified expectations.
- Medical certificates. MOH’s November 2024 FAQ is explicit that licensees can’t advertise the potential to obtain an MC (“get sick leave from your couch”). That’s relevant to any teleconsultation service.
Even where the HCSA regulations don’t formally apply, the same standards are good practice for any therapy practice. Clients choose a therapist on trust, and copy that overpromises loses it.
Ads vs SEO for a mental health practice
If one practice ranked first organically for every keyword in this dataset, the clicks would be worth roughly S$8,761 a month in equivalent Google Ads spend. That figure excludes every psychiatrist and psychologist search, because Google won’t report them.

A practical split for most practices:
- Google Ads, carefully, on the buyable terms: therapist, counselling and assessment searches, sent to pages that state qualifications, approach, languages and exact fees.
- SEO for the withheld demand and the research phase. Psychiatrist and psychologist profile pages, condition explainers, “what to expect at your first session” and assessment process pages. People often read for weeks before they book, and organic content is what they read.
Month-on-month changes

Methodology
How this index is built. Every month we pull Google Ads Keyword Planner data through the Google Ads API for Singapore (English, Google Search network). We seed each medical vertical with its core treatment terms, then:
- Collapse close variants. Keyword Planner reports “boob job singapore” and “breast implant singapore” with identical numbers. We count them once.
- Drop navigational searches. Clinic and hospital brand names are excluded, along with anything under 30 searches a month.
- Report the top-of-page bid range (low and high) in SGD. Our headline “CPC” is the volume-weighted high end: what it typically takes to show above the organic results.
- Probe restricted terms by exact match to record where Google withholds data or shows no bids.
Top-of-page bids are Google’s forecasts, not any one clinic’s actual cost per click. Quality Score, ad schedule, device and competition on the day move real CPCs above or below this range. Use the index to compare treatments and verticals, not to set a single bid.

Is SEO worth it for a therapy practice?
Yes, especially because the core psychiatrist and psychologist searches can’t be planned in Keyword Planner and clients research before they book. See our SEO for healthcare guide.
