Updated October 2026. Health screening is a high-volume, low-price-per-click vertical. Singaporeans search for check-ups constantly, but the clicks are cheap. Across 67 deduplicated keywords, the volume-weighted top-of-page bid is S$5.56, ranking screening #12 of the 15 verticals in our Singapore Medical CPC Index. The priciest group is Sexual health tests, at S$8.46.

The data comes straight from the Google Ads API (Keyword Planner, Singapore, English) and is refreshed every month. Below: what each type of screening costs to advertise, the most expensive searches, how demand moves through the year, and the screening searches Google won’t give you data for.

Why screening clicks are cheap, and where they aren’t:

  • Packages are compared on price. General screening searches (“health screening singapore”, 2,900 searches at S$5.81) are dominated by package comparison. Many providers sell similar tests, a lot of demand is employer-paid, and national programmes subsidise core screening. Comparison shopping like that keeps bids low.
  • Sexual health is the exception. “std check up singapore” has 2,400 searches at S$9.06. It’s a discreet, fast-decision, self-paid search where the patient wants an appointment now, and GP and specialist clinics bid for it.
  • Imaging is a referral-adjacent market. MRI and CT searches split between price research (“mri charges in singapore”) and self-referral intent (“mri singapore”, S$12.47). Imaging centres pay for the second kind.

Volume concentrates in the generic package searches, while the expensive terms are narrower: imaging, sexual health, heart screening and location (“novena health screening”). For a screening provider, the most profitable keywords are often the specific ones, such as heart, cancer or women’s screening, rather than the head term everyone bids on.

Screening demand holds up through most of the year, with a dip around Chinese New Year and a softer stretch mid-year. Corporate screening contracts and year-end benefit spending support the final quarter. A provider with package pages already ranking before the year-end benefit rush pays far less for those patients than one buying every click.

Health screening searches Google won’t show data for

We check the core screening terms by exact match every month:

Health screening searches Google won't show data for — Health Screening Google Ads CPC in Singapore: October 2026 Data
Search term Keyword Planner, October 2026
health screening singapore 2,900 searches, S$1.24–S$5.81
std test singapore No data returned
mri scan singapore 320 searches, S$1.81–S$6.99
colonoscopy singapore No data returned

“std test singapore” and “colonoscopy singapore” both returned no data in October 2026. Yet the near-identical “std check up singapore” has data and some of the highest bids in this vertical. Google’s handling of sensitive health terms isn’t consistent across phrasings. A clinic offering sexual health testing or colonoscopy should use its own Search Console data, not Keyword Planner, to see the full demand.

What patients search vs what your screening ads can say

Clinics and laboratories that provide screening are licensees under the Healthcare Services Act, so their advertising falls under the HCS (Advertisement) Regulations 2021.

These are the words patients type. Under the HCS (Advertisement) Regulations, a licensee’s ad copy cannot repeat most of them.
Searcher modifier Keywords Searches / mo Avg high bid Examples
“best” 5 810 S$5.32 best health screening package singapore, best health screening singapore, best women's health screening packages singapore
“cheapest / lowest price” 1 140 S$5.01 cheapest mri scan in singapore

Screening is the vertical where package marketing runs into the rules most often:

  • Package and price wording. MOH lists discount-linked “package” pricing, “usual vs now” prices, “as low as”, “lowest prices”, time-limited offers and “free” or “complimentary” add-ons as soliciting. “Cheapest MRI” is something patients search for, not something your ad can say. Exact package prices with no prefix are allowed.
  • Laudatory claims. “Most comprehensive”, “most advanced scanner” and “best health screening package” use terms on MOH’s laudatory list and are prohibited regardless of accuracy.
  • Public schemes. MOH has long required providers in government-funded screening schemes, such as Screen for Life, to use the authorities’ own materials when advertising them, with no promotional framing of their own.
  • Fear-led copy. Ads that imply you’ll be healthier or safer with your screening than with another provider’s, or that create unjustified expectations of what a test can detect, fall foul of the content rules.

MOH’s FAQ says SEO itself “is not considered as advertising”, while SEM is regulated as paid advertising. Your website still has to comply. But clear, factual pages explaining what each test covers and what it costs can rank for “best health screening package” searches without making the claim.

Ads vs SEO for a screening provider

If one provider ranked first organically for every keyword in this dataset, the clicks would be worth roughly S$15,223 a month in equivalent Google Ads spend. The figure is high despite low CPCs, because screening volume is large.

Ads vs SEO for a screening provider — Health Screening Google Ads CPC in Singapore: October 2026 Data

A practical split:

  • Google Ads for the narrower, higher-value tests: heart screening, imaging and sexual health, each pointing to a test-specific page with exact fees.
  • SEO for the package searches and the withheld terms. Comparison-friendly package pages, test explainers and location pages. Organic rankings carry the high-volume, price-led demand far more cheaply than ads.

Month-on-month changes

Methodology

How this index is built. Every month we pull Google Ads Keyword Planner data through the Google Ads API for Singapore (English, Google Search network). We seed each medical vertical with its core treatment terms, then:

  • Collapse close variants. Keyword Planner reports “boob job singapore” and “breast implant singapore” with identical numbers. We count them once.
  • Drop navigational searches. Clinic and hospital brand names are excluded, along with anything under 30 searches a month.
  • Report the top-of-page bid range (low and high) in SGD. Our headline “CPC” is the volume-weighted high end: what it typically takes to show above the organic results.
  • Probe restricted terms by exact match to record where Google withholds data or shows no bids.

Top-of-page bids are Google’s forecasts, not any one clinic’s actual cost per click. Quality Score, ad schedule, device and competition on the day move real CPCs above or below this range. Use the index to compare treatments and verticals, not to set a single bid.

Why does Keyword Planner show no data for some screening tests?

Google doesn’t explain it. In October 2026, “std test singapore” and “colonoscopy singapore” returned no metrics, while related phrasings did. Use Search Console on your own pages to see real demand for those tests.

Is SEO or Google Ads better for a health screening provider?

For package searches, SEO usually wins on cost because the volume is large and the intent is comparison. Ads are better for specific, higher-value tests. See our Google Ads for healthcare guide.
