Updated October 2026. For a refractive surgery clinic in Singapore, the most useful planning data is the data Google won’t show. In October 2026, Keyword Planner returned nothing for “lasik singapore” or “relex smile singapore”. Across the 37 deduplicated eye-care keywords it does report, the volume-weighted top-of-page bid is S$12.59, ranking #6 of 15 in our Singapore Medical CPC Index. The priciest group this month is Myopia control & Ortho-K, at S$23.81.

The figures come straight from the Google Ads API (Keyword Planner, Singapore, English) and are refreshed every month. Below: what each eye service costs to advertise, the most expensive searches, seasonality, the withheld terms, and what the HCS (Advertisement) Regulations mean for eye clinics.

Keywords grouped by service, with bids weighted by search volume. Groups with only one or two keywords can swing a lot from month to month.

Volume-weighted averages across 37 deduplicated keywords. October 2026 snapshot.
Treatment / service Keywords Searches / mo Top-of-page bid (low–high) Most-searched keyword
Myopia control & Ortho-K 5 450 S$1.92–S$23.81 ortho k lenses singapore
Eye specialist / ophthalmologist 23 5,470 S$3.82–S$12.21 eye specialist singapore

Retina 2 100 S$3.72–S$10.88 retina specialist singapore
Glaucoma 2 180 S$3.12–S$9.03 glaucoma doctor singapore
ICL 3 260 S$1.70–S$5.52 icl singapore

What drives the order:

  • Children’s myopia is a parents’ market. Singapore has one of the highest childhood myopia rates in the world, and parents researching ortho-k and myopia-control lenses are motivated and self-paying. “ortho k singapore” bids at S$27.26, and optometry practices compete with ophthalmologists for those patients.
  • General ophthalmology is volume-led. “eye specialist singapore” (1,600 searches a month, S$13.29) and “eye doctor singapore” (1,300, S$13.59) carry most of the traffic at moderate bids. Many searchers have a referral, an insurance panel or a subsidised option in mind.
  • Cataract is older, insured demand. Cataract surgery is commonly funded with MediSave and insurance, and patients are often referred rather than searching cold. “cataract surgery singapore” sits at S$11.52, below the specialist head terms.

Paediatric ophthalmology also prices well: “paediatric ophthalmologist singapore” is S$12.97, again driven by parents.

Total monthly searches for the tracked eye care & lasik keywords. Peak: October 2025 (8,540); low: August 2026 (6,080).

Eye care demand is relatively steady through the year. Watch for two patterns. Myopia and children’s eye searches tend to rise around school holidays and after school vision screenings. Elective refractive surgery is often scheduled around leave, though the LASIK searches themselves are invisible in Keyword Planner.

Eye care searches Google won’t show data for

We check the core eye-care terms by exact match every month:

Eye care searches Google won't show data for — Eye Clinic Google Ads CPC in Singapore: October 2026 Data
Search term Keyword Planner, October 2026
lasik singapore No data returned
relex smile singapore No data returned
cataract surgery singapore 590 searches, S$2.19–S$11.52
icl singapore 140 searches, S$2.00–S$7.33
eye specialist singapore 1,600 searches, S$4.10–S$13.29

“lasik singapore” and “relex smile singapore” returned no data in October 2026. Cataract, ICL and eye specialist terms all returned normal figures. Google doesn’t publish its reasons, but refractive surgery falls within the health topics where it limits data and targeting. Advertisers may still be able to bid on these terms. What they can’t do is see the volume, the bid range or the competition before they spend.

For LASIK and SMILE providers, that makes organic search the most measurable channel. Your own Search Console data shows the real impressions for “lasik singapore”, “lasik cost” and “smile vs lasik” searches, which Keyword Planner won’t.

What patients search vs what your ads can say

Eye clinics run by ophthalmologists are HCSA licensees, so their advertising falls under the HCS (Advertisement) Regulations 2021. Patients search for the best, and the rules don’t let you claim it:

These are the words patients type. Under the HCS (Advertisement) Regulations, a licensee’s ad copy cannot repeat most of them.
Searcher modifier Keywords Searches / mo Avg high bid Examples
“best” 5 480 S$13.87 best eye doctor singapore, singapore best eye hospital, best glaucoma specialist in singapore

For eye clinics, the rules that matter most:

  • Laudatory and technology claims. MOH’s list of likely-laudatory terms includes “latest technology”, “most advanced”, “state-of-the-art”, “cutting-edge”, “precise”, “safest” and “highest success rate”. Refractive surgery marketing leans heavily on exactly these phrases.
  • Unjustified expectations. “Perfect vision in 15 minutes” or “throw away your glasses tomorrow” imply results and timelines not every patient will get.
  • Price promotions. “Free LASIK assessment”, “as low as” and time-limited prices count as soliciting. The exact price of a procedure is allowed.
  • Testimonials. Patient reviews posted directly and organically are allowed. Reproducing them in ads, or paying for them, is not.

MOH’s FAQ separates the channels: SEO “is not considered as ‘advertising’”, while paid search is “governed by the HCS (Advertisement) Regulations”. Your site content must still comply, but rankings for “best eye doctor singapore” are earned through relevance and reviews, not claimed in copy.

Ads vs SEO for an eye clinic

If one clinic ranked first organically for every keyword in this dataset, the clicks would be worth roughly S$14,228 a month in equivalent Google Ads spend. That excludes LASIK and SMILE, which Keyword Planner doesn’t report at all.

Ads vs SEO for an eye clinic — Eye Clinic Google Ads CPC in Singapore: October 2026 Data

A practical split:

  • Google Ads for myopia control, paediatric eye care and specialist searches near your clinic, with factual copy, exact prices on the landing page and no dynamic keyword insertion.
  • SEO for refractive surgery, which you can’t plan from Keyword Planner, for condition pages (glaucoma, retina, dry eye), and for local “eye specialist + area” searches.

Month-on-month changes

October 2026 is the first snapshot of this index. From next month this section shows which keywords got more or less expensive.

Methodology

How this index is built. Every month we pull Google Ads Keyword Planner data through the Google Ads API for Singapore (English, Google Search network). We seed each medical vertical with its core treatment terms, then:

  • Collapse close variants. Keyword Planner reports “boob job singapore” and “breast implant singapore” with identical numbers. We count them once.
  • Drop navigational searches. Clinic and hospital brand names are excluded, along with anything under 30 searches a month.
  • Report the top-of-page bid range (low and high) in SGD. Our headline “CPC” is the volume-weighted high end: what it typically takes to show above the organic results.
  • Probe restricted terms by exact match to record where Google withholds data or shows no bids.

Top-of-page bids are Google’s forecasts, not any one clinic’s actual cost per click. Quality Score, ad schedule, device and competition on the day move real CPCs above or below this range. Use the index to compare treatments and verticals, not to set a single bid.

Why are ortho-k and myopia control keywords expensive?

They’re self-paid, often ongoing treatments for children, researched by motivated parents, and contested by both optometrists and ophthalmologists. See also specialist clinic CPCs.
